February 25 - Pageant

Black Heritage Festival pageant entries are accepted annually from October through January. Divisions open for girls and women ages 2 to 22. Pageants are held at the Lake Charles Civic Center in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Cynthia Metoyer is the Pageant Director.

March 10 - BHF

The rhythm is going to get you into the spirit of this year’s Black Heritage Festival at the Lake Charles Civic Center on March 12. The festival celebrates community, education and diversity! This year’s headliners include Keith Frank and the Soileau Zydeco Band and Leon Chavis and the Zydeco Flames, plus “the Iceman” Jerry Butler

Scholarship Program

The Black Heritage Festival's Scholarships are awarded to eligible graduating high school seniors in Calcasieu Parish. Applicants must have a minimum 2.8 GPA with a minimum 18 ACT score.

BHF Kids Zone

The 2011 Black Heritage Festival Kids Zone is filled with fun and activities for the kid in everyone!! Included with admission: Kids Activities, Door Prizes, Stage Entertainment, Demonstrations, Moonwalk, Games, Kids Characters, Storytime, and Magic.

BHF Diaper Derby

The Diaper Derby is a baby race open to all crawlers. Its great fun to watch and is a great photo opportunity. Prizes are awarded. Free to the public.

The Healthy Baby Contest emphasizes the importance of continued health care for infants. Infants are examined to determine the healthiest baby. Prizes are awarded. Free to the public.

BHF Talent Showcase

This is an opportunity for rising stars to showcase their talent. The showcase is open to all ages.

Black Heritage Gallery

A project of the Black Heritage Festival dedicated to the presentation of African-American culture and history. The gallery displays year-round exhibits and educational activities representing the contributions of African Americans to Southwest Louisiana.
